Super Bowl Sunday 2021
Super Bowl Sunday may look different for bars this year due to the pandemic
SALISBURY, Md.- It’s Super Bowl weekend and in the past that meant packed bars.
But, this year the way people and bars celebrate may look a little different due to the pandemic.
“Usually we have every spot filled in the house, were not expecting that this year, but last year we definitely were packed, we had a full house in here,” Chesley Jones, a bartender at The Greene Turtle, said.
The Greene Turtle, a bar and grill in Salisbury, said this Super Bowl Sunday they expect some people to come in and watch the game.
We are told those who choose to do so, should know the bar will be following all safety precautions, like having tables 6 ft. apart.
“Knowing that we can still have others in here is also very warming because I understand you don’t want to be at your house all the time,” Amanda Neal, the front house manager, said.
“We are still abiding by the rules and all that good stuff, it kind of makes it easy for everyone because they see where they’ll have to sit,” Jones said.
But, The Greene Turtle knows that not everyone is comfortable with going to a bar, during the pandemic.
So, for those of you who would rather enjoy the game in the comfort of your own home, The Greene Turtle has an option for you too.
“So, we have our party platter, its a bunch of appetizers all of our favorites all in one, it’s gonna be our cheese quesadilla, our chicken strips, our crab dip, and our wings,” Jones said.
We are told that the bar is expecting more to go orders and catering this time around, so this party platter is the perfect option.
“I actually really enjoy everything that we are able to do for people at home being able to send them an entire meal that they can sit there and enjoy and relax and watch their game because I understand it’s a very scary world out there with the pandemic,” Neal said.
And when it comes to drinks, there’s even some cocktail recipes that The Greene Turtle is giving out that you can make at home, like the traditional Orange Crush.
Overall, while there may be some changes in how people celebrate the Super Bowl this year, The Greene Turtle wants you to know they have your back whatever way you choose to celebrate.
“We are just hoping to make everyone as comfortable as we can and everyone still enjoy their time while they can,” Jones said.
We are told the special platter is only available for Super Bowl Sunday.
You can place your order by calling the Greene Turtle or you can order online.
The Greene Turtle opens at 11 tomorrow and closes at 10.
We are told they will not be taking reservations for Super Bowl Sunday.
